OUT OF THE DARK
Released October in time for Halloween, this haunting jazzy song features Lachi and trans activist Medusa, and celebrates the collective liberation of “coming out” as one’s whole self. The dance mix of the song received nearly 1 Million streams on Tik Tok.
With haunting melodic vibes inspired by the 1932 film Freaks, Lachi says "Out of the Dark" is a call to action for all the freaks, outcasts and geeks to come out and takeover. Everyone has that 'thing' society dictates they should hide. Out of the Dark says we're done hiding, we're loud and proud, so move over while I order me and my friends a round! |

A GIRL
Released November just before elections and with women’s issues on the ballot and airwaves, this folk song features 3 blind women including Lachi, amplifying the trials and triumphs of being a girl..
"A Girl...is a rallying cry for every woman who’s been underestimated, overlooked, or told she’s not enough," Lachi says. |

DIS EDUCATION
Released December just after International Disability Day, this pop jazz piano vocal celebrates the pride in being an independent person with a disability while stifling misconceptions. A popular song performed at Lachi’s live shows, but has never before been released.
Diseducation declares, “If you’re here to underestimate me, let me dis-educate you on that notion!” says Lachi. Diseducation is a joyful stance against ableism. "Ableism only gets in the way of what’s already perfect,” Lachi expresses. The long scatting moments in the song? They’re her musical declaration of that joy.

THAT KINDA BLACK
Releasing late January 2025 leading up to Black History Month, this spoken word / rap tackles Lachi’s very personal journey as a black daughter of immigrants featuring her brother Frank Nitty with audio description from her mother Chief Dr. Marcellina.
hey declare that they were raised not to see themselves as “That Kinda Black” but are still seen that way by many in the outside world due to racial stigma. With haunting melodic vibes, and inspired storytelling with clever and catchy lyrics, That Kinda Black is a true in depth journey into a slice of the black experience, a depth in which Lachi rarely goes as an artist. With phrases like "gotta stay luxury, don't got the luxury not to stand on number one-ing" and "read the instructions on how to be about it, went out and did it, done tryna read about it" Lachi describes the nuanced difference between the black experience. Both Lachi and Frank Nitty showcase meticulous lyrical wit and skill in That Kinda Black. |
